Tim Dees (‘75) was the backbone of Spring Hill’s baseball resurgence in the mid-1970s — a tough, intelligent catcher who anchored the Badgers’ defense and guided the team through one of its most successful stretches in program history.

A key member of the 1974 Southern States Conference Championship team and the 1975 NAIA District finalist squad, Dees helped lead the Badgers to their first 20-win season and first back-to-back winning campaigns in more than 30 years.

Widely regarded as one of the best defensive catchers in Spring Hill history, Dees was known by teammates as a “coach on the field,” expertly managing pitchers and calling games with precision. He was also a timely hitter, a savvy baserunner, and even contributed on the mound in relief for Mobile Sports Hall of Fame coach Stan Galle.

Dees caught one of the program’s signature wins — the 1974 upset of nationally ranked South Alabama, a 3-2 victory that remains a highlight in Spring Hill baseball history.
