The Baldwin County High School basketball star made an immediate impact when she arrived on the Hill. Baker helped the Badger women to their first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship and only the second national tournament appearance ever for the Women’s basketball program. The 23 wins that season tied the record for the most in program history with Hall of Fame Coach Jeanie Millings’ 1982-83 team. Baker was a dominant scorer and rebounder during her career at Spring Hill and finished with 1,675 career points, currently third in program history and 781 career rebounds. She holds the single-game record for field goal percentage, shooting an amazing 89%. As a four-year starter, La Toya was well recognized by the GCAC conference coaches, being voted All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in three of her four seasons.
