Happy Mahfouz was a record setting basketball student-athlete at Spring Hill College from 1951-55. During those years, Mahfouz’s Badgers beat traditional southern powers like Florida State, Memphis and Tulane. He was MVP of the 1955 Gator Bowl as the Badgers defeated Florida and Georgia to win the crown. Mahfouz holds the Spring Hill single-season points per game (26.5) record. He was named to All-Gulf States Team and was a Helms Foundation NAIA All American.  Mahfouz was selected in the 1955 NBA draft by the Ft. Wayne (Detroit) Pistons. Happy went on to coach basketball at University of Arkansas Little Rock where he also later served as the Athletic Director.
