Billy Bonner ('02) established himself as one of the most accomplished power hitters in Spring Hill College baseball history, leaving a lasting mark on the Badger record book through his offensive production and cementing his legacy.

A four-year starter at first base, Bonner led the Badgers in home runs during each of his four seasons. His consistent production earned him Gulf Coast Athletic Conference All-Conference honors twice, in 2000 and 2002, he was also named both the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference and NAIA Region 13 Player of the Week during his career.

Bonner capped his collegiate career with a record-setting senior season in 2002. Starting 54 games, he batted .376 with 65 hits, 18 doubles, 17 home runs, 47 RBIs and 44 runs scored while posting a .775 slugging percentage and .491 on-base percentage. At first base, he anchored the Badger defense with a .977 fielding percentage.

His senior campaign cemented his place in the Spring Hill record book. His 17 home runs established the program's single-season record, which still stands today, while his 134 total bases set the school's single-season record at the time. He also tied the school record with three home runs in a game against Auburn Montgomery on Feb. 9, 2002. Bonner finished his career with 43 home runs, a record that still stands as the most in Spring Hill baseball history.

Bonner's success extended beyond the baseball field. He graduated from Spring Hill College with honors before earning his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. Today, he is a partner at the law firm Cunningham Bounds.

One of the premier sluggers to ever wear the Badger uniform, Bonner's remarkable career, academic achievement, and professional success leave a lasting legacy on the Hill.
