Bogue came to SHC known as a very good athlete and despite his small stature and he did not disappoint. He lettered all four years on varsity football, basketball and baseball, while also lettering two years on the boxing team. “Frankie” made a reputation not only at Spring Hill, but all over the South, as a top-flight athlete. His speed on the baseball diamond allowed him to stretch a single into a double or even a triple. Opposing teams knew if Bogue was on base, he was looking to steal. His bat and speed helped the Badgers knock off LSU, 9-0, in 1923 and 13-3 during the 1924 season. Frankie hit a team high .349 during the 1923 season. He played both end and quarterback for the Badger football team. The Badgers had one of the toughest schedule in the south during those years, consistently lining up versus the likes of Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Tulane. Bogue also excelled in basketball, where again his speed and quickness were a great asset to the hoops teams of the early 1920’s, with the 1922 seasons being considered the best in school history at that time.
