Hall of Fame
Steve Hodges built one of the most enduring coaching legacies in Spring Hill College athletics, leading the Badgers’ men’s golf program from 1996-2025. Across 29 seasons, Hodges established Spring Hill as a consistent contender at both the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels.
Hodges’ tenure began with immediate success, when he led the Badgers to nine NAIA National Championship appearances and four top-10 finishes, including four Region XIII championships.Â
In 1996, he coached Keith Hoard to the NAIA individual national championship, while 12 of his players earned NAIA All-America honors from 1995-2003. Hodges was also named NAIA Region XIII Coach of the Year four times and served as president of the NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches Association in 2002.
His impact continued through Spring Hill’s transition to NCAA Division II. Hodges led the Badgers to three SIAC championships, an individual conference championship and three NCAA tournament appearances, while developing 26 all-conference selections across the SIAC and Gulf South Conference. He also coached Jesse Redman to SIAC Golfer of the Year honors and Nicholas Couchard and Kevin Kelsey to SIAC Freshman of the Year honors.
Hodges also served as the head coach of Spring Hill women’s golf for much of his tenure, leading the program from 2005-12 and again beginning in 2015. His influence reached well beyond championships and individual honors, spanning generations of Badger golfers and helping establish Spring Hill as a respected golf program for nearly three decades.
In recognition of a 29-year career defined by championships, national appearances and the development of countless student-athletes, Hodges leaves an enduring mark on Spring Hill College golf. His accomplishments on the course, and his investment in the people who played it, have made him one of the most accomplished coaches in Badger athletics history.
