Tubertge, Kelsey tied for fourth, Badgers one stroke behind team lead

TUNICA SPRINGS, Miss. – The Spring Hill men's golf team wrapped up the first round of the SIAC Championship on Monday, turning in a team score of 303 (+15) to finish the day in second place. The Badgers sit just one stroke behind Miles for the team lead, while Spring Hill teammates Kevin Tobertge and Nick Kelsey are both tied for fourth individually.
 
Tobertge and Kelsey will enter play on Tuesday just three strokes off the individual lead, which is currently held by Samuel Stagno of Miles.
 
Tournament Details
Date: April 20-22 (Monday-Wednesday)
Course (Location): Tunica National Golf Course (Tunica Springs, Miss.)
Par/Yardage: 72/7,180  
 
After the first nine holes, Kelsey was a stroke under par, with Tobertge (+2) and Nicolas Thapar (+3) staying within striking distance for the team lead.
 
Tobertge turned in four birdies over the first round to end up at 73 (+1), while Kelsey (+1) added three of his own. Christopher Jansen birdied three times on the back nine to match Tobertge for a team high, and Thapar (+9) scored an eagle on a par-five Hole Three.
Nicholas Haber rounded out the Badgers' scoring, overcoming a rough front nine to shoot a solid two-over on the back half.
