Kelsey Wins Frank Mackel New Orleans Metro Championship
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Spring Hill College men's golfer Nick Kelsey captured the Frank Mackel New Orleans Metro Championship on Sunday at Bayou Oaks at City Park.

Kelsey opened the 36-hole championship with a 66 before closing with a 72 in the final round to finish with a 138 (-6), earning a one-stroke victory in the Open Division.

Kelsey opened the championship with a 66, sitting tied atop the Open Division leaderboard heading into the final round. Kelsey used a birdie on the 16th hole to regain the lead before closing out the championship with a par on the 18th hole.

"I didn't really know where I was at on the leaderboard. I was just trying to stay focused on my game and didn't really look at the scores, but I did hear what the scenario was when I got to the green on 18. I just stayed focused and left myself a couple of inches for par," Kelsey told Michael Bryan Day of WDSU following the championship.

The Frank Mackel New Orleans Metro Championship was produced by the Kelly Gibson Foundation in partnership with the Mackel Family and LCMC Health. The championship honors New Orleans golf legend Frank Mackel and has been held at Bayou Oaks at City Park since 2006.
