MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill men's tennis team picked up a midweek victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the University of Mobile 4-3 at Copeland-Cox Tennis Center. The win is the sixth for the Badgers in their last eight matches dating back to Feb. 26.
Match Details:
Spring Hill took all three doubles flights to snag the early point, and Filipe Grebenstov made quick work of his opponent on Court 2 of singles action to put the Badgers in front 2-0. The Rams answered with back-to-back wins in the fifth and fourth flights respectively to tie it up at 2-2, but
Tom Ruel put SHC on the brink of a clinch with a victory on Court 3.
Mobile refused to go quietly, picking up a victory on Court 6 to again pull even with Spring Hill, shifting all eyes to the top singles flight.
Tom Gutermann was forced into a third set before hitting another gear, and his 6-0 win in the finale gave the Badgers a well-earned match win.
