Two Badgers Earn Individual Championships at SIAC Meet

19 personal records and six program records broken during meet

ATLANTA – Spring Hill College track & field freshmen Ethan Elliott and Evelyn Hererra both took home individual championships in their respective events at the 2024 Cricket SIAC Track & Field Championships.
 
The Badgers saw six school records set, 19 personal bests fall and 31 marks climb into the top-10 lists in the team record books.
 
Elliott secured the men's discus title in his first appearance at the conference meet with a 48.63m (159-6) attempt that also broke his program record. He continued his momentum with podium finishes in the shot put (15.23m/49-11.75) and hammer throw (46.41/152-3), both of which also broke his school records. The freshman's dominant performance at the meet led him to the Most Valuable Men's Field Performer award.
 
Hererra won the first-ever 5000m title in program history after a five-lap head-to-head battle for first place and broke free for the final mile to secure the victory. Her 20:10.29 time marked a personal record.
 
Grant Nastasi broke his own school record in the 200m that was set earlier this season with a new time of 22.07. The men's 4x100m relay team of Devin Singletary, Christian Glover, Theo Hubbard and Nastasi set a new school record with a time of 41.95 in trials. The team went on to finish sixth in the finals. Garrett Baldwin tied his pole vault record of 3.80m (12-5.50) and earned second in the event.

Men's/Women's Field Notes
  • Elliott won the conference discus title before taking third in both the shot put and hammer throw.
  • Baldwin tied his program pole vault record.
  • Qu'Darius Foster placed sixth in the men's long jump (6.67m/21-10.50).
  • Mikeil Heard finished 10th in the men's shot put with a 13.61m (44-7.75) attempt.
  • Abigail Remick tied for second in the women's pole vault with a mark of 2.30m (7-6.50)
  • Quincy Curley climbed the program record books with a 12.11m (43-0.25) triple jump attempt that was good for 10th at the meet.
  • Baldwin placed second in the men's pole vault (3.80m/15-5.50) and tied his school record.
  • Freshman pole vaulter Baylor Barrett placed sixth in the men's section of the event with a 3.35m (11-0) attempt.
  • Senior Ridge Chautin pole vaulted his way into 9th place in the men's section with a 2.90m (9-6.25) attempt.
  • Tiana Smith took third in the women's triple jump (11-72m/38-5.50). she also claimed seventh in the high jump (1.45m/4-9)
  • Freshman women's field performer Sanai Stringer threw for 31.21m (102-5) in her javelin debut at the conference meet.
 
Men's/Women's Running notes
  • The men's 4x100 relay team (41.97) broke the program record and took sixth at the meet.
  • Myles Cook ran a 36:15.71 10000m race that was good for fourth place.
  • Hubbard placed sixth in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 16.01.
  • Hererra claimed the first 5000m championship in program history and placed ninth in the 1500m (5:25.05).
  • Zachary Thomas finished fifth in the men's 3000m steeplechase (10:55.42).
