HATTIESBURG, Miss. – JaTerralyn Hamilton broke a pair of program records as the Spring Hill College track and field team competed at the Southern Miss Invitational.
Hamilton broke both the 100m and 200m dash school records. She started with a blazing time of 11.92 in the 100m, followed by an impressive 24.79-second time in the 200m.
"JaTerralyn had an amazing day! To break two school records in one day is a feat in itself," said head coach Craig McVey. "The times she posted are milestones for our women's program, breaking 12.0 seconds for the 100m and 25.0 for the 200m is huge. Her marks position her for great things at our conference meet!"
Tiana Smith earned a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.49m. She also broke her personal record in the long jump with a 4.84m attempt.
Kobe King led the men's squad, placing fourth in the triple jump with a 13.34m mark. He also was a part of the 4x400 relay team alongside Quincy Curley, Devin Singletary and Landon Laphand that placed sixth with a time of 3:25.56.
Overall, the Badgers saw 16 personal bests fall and more than 25 marks move on to the program's top-10 lists. They achieved this while facing their most challenging weekend in terms of weather.
"We got a lot accomplished Friday and Saturday at Southern Miss. Friday was hot and sunny. Saturday, we dodged the rain and projected huge thunderstorms. We had winds at 15-20 mph, but, clouds gave way to sun during the day," McVey continued. "Saturday, there was enough wind to affect field events and oval races, but, we still had a number of personal bests split between both days."
Spring Hill will travel to Troy, Ala., next for the Doc Anderson Invitational, which will mark the final regular-season meet for the team.
"We head to Troy University Friday and Saturday for their Doc Anderson Invitational. That will be our last competition before our SIAC Outdoor Championship at The University of South Carolina."
