BOCA RATON, Fla. — Spring Hill College women's soccer battled back from an early deficit, but Lynn University scored the deciding goal in the second half as the Badgers fell 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Bobby Campbell Stadium.

Lynn opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Shayla De La Cruz found the back of the net, giving the Fighting Knights a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Spring Hill responded early in the second half when Felicia Ajayi leveled the match in the 59th minute, finishing off assists from Olivia Vasquez and Clemence Raoult to make it 1-1.

The tie would not last, however, as Brooklyn Steiner put Lynn back in front in the 71st minute. Elise Holcey and Juliana Torres assisted on the goal.

The Badgers had opportunities to find another equalizer late. Madison Hitzman and Ajayi each put shots on goal in the final 10 minutes, but Lynn goalkeeper Emma Brunelli made saves on both attempts to preserve the Fighting Knights' victory.

Ajayi led Spring Hill with three shots on goal, while Hitzman added three total shots. Vasquez recorded an assist and a shot on goal, while Raoult also picked up an assist.

Ava Bell kept the Badgers in the match throughout, recording seven saves on nine Lynn shots on goal.

Lynn held a 22-10 advantage in total shots and a 9-7 edge in shots on goal. Spring Hill earned four corner kicks compared to five for the Fighting Knights.

The loss drops Spring Hill to 0-2-1 on the season, while Lynn improves to 2-1.

The Badgers will return to action on Tuesday, September 7, at 1:00 PM CST when it hosts Tuskegee at Library Field in Mobile, Ala.
