Badgers Earn First Win of Season, Blank Tuskegee 2-0

MOBILE, Ala. — The Spring Hill College women's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2026 season Tuesday afternoon, shutting out Tuskegee University 2-0 at Library Field.

The victory also marked the first career win for first-year head coach Alejo Binaghi, who was hired to lead the Badgers ahead of the 2026 season.

Spring Hill (1-2-1) controlled the opening half, putting six shots toward the Tuskegee goal while limiting the Golden Tigers to just one attempt.

The Badgers broke through in the 22nd minute when Felicia Ajayi found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. Ajayi's goal gave Spring Hill a 1-0 advantage, which the Badgers carried into halftime.

Spring Hill continued to pressure Tuskegee in the second half, eventually doubling its lead in the 80th minute. Baileigh Rumage scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Ajayi to push the Badgers' advantage to 2-0.

The Spring Hill defense did the rest, keeping Tuskegee off the scoreboard for the first shutout of the season. Ava Bell played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves to earn the clean sheet.

The Badgers finished with an 11-7 advantage in shots, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Spring Hill also held Tuskegee to just one shot in the opening half.

Ajayi finished with a goal and an assist, while Rumage added the second goal. Julie Cooke led the Badgers with three shots, including two on goal.

With the victory, Spring Hill moves to 1-2-1 on the season, while Tuskegee falls to 0-2-1.

The Badgers will return to action with their first GSC matchup of the season when they travel to Memphis, Tenn., to face Christian Brothers University at Signaigo Field at 2:30 p.m. CST on Sept. 12.
