VALDOSTA, Ga. — The Spring Hill College women's soccer team battled Valdosta State to a 1-1 draw Wednesday evening at the VSU Soccer Complex in Gulf South Conference play.
The Badgers (3-3-2, 2-1-1 GSC) fell behind early when Valdosta State's Sarah Hudson found the back of the net in the sixth minute. Spring Hill answered in the 31st minute, as senior Sofia Jimenez Garcia scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Felicia Ajayi to level the match at 1-1.
Neither side could find a breakthrough in the second half, despite both teams recording eight shots after halftime. Spring Hill finished with 12 shots, putting seven on frame, while Valdosta State also recorded 12 shots with five on goal.
Ava Bell turned in another strong performance between the posts, making four saves across the full 90 minutes to keep the Badgers level. The draw marked the second time this season Spring Hill has played to a 1-1 result.
Jimenez Garcia led the Badgers with four shots, including two on goal, while Ajayi added a shot and an assist. Madison Hitzman also registered four shots, with two finding the target.
Spring Hill returns home Saturday, Sept. 26, hosting West Alabama at Library Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CST.
