MOBILE, Ala. — A second-half goal from Madison Hitzman proved to be the difference as Spring Hill College women's soccer blanked West Alabama, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Library Field.

After a scoreless opening half, the Badgers broke through in the 68th minute. Hitzman collected her third shot of the afternoon and found the back of the net to give Spring Hill the lead.

From there, the Badgers' defense and goalkeeper Ava Bell held firm. Bell made four saves across the 90 minutes, including a pair of stops in the final seven minutes, to secure her second shutout of the season.

Spring Hill and West Alabama finished even at nine shots apiece, while the Badgers held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Hitzman led Spring Hill with three shots, including two on target.

The victory moves the Badgers to 4-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Gulf South Conference play. West Alabama falls to 1-7-0 overall and 0-5-0 in conference action.

Spring Hill returns to action Saturday, Oct. 3, traveling to Huntsville, Alabama, to face Alabama Huntsville. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Charger Park.
