INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA announced the field for the 2026 Division II Track and Field Championships on Tuesday afternoon, with Spring Hill's
Grant Nastasi becoming the program's first-ever national qualifier in the Division II era. The meet is set to take place on May 21-23 and will be hosted at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
Â
Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. For each individual event, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.
Â
"Congrats to Grant and Coach Hurd for their awesome work together to make this possible. This is a great honor for Grant to be selected," Head Coach
Craig McVey said. "This is a tribute to him, his hard work, his mentality, and the daily process he has lived for multiple years. This couldn't happen to a better young man." Â
Â
Nastasi currently holds the program record in the 100 at 10.31, a mark he set in the first outdoor meet of the season at the Mississippi College Spring Classic. Three weeks ago at the SIAC Championships, Nastasi added another Spring Hill record to his storied resumé, running a time of 21.30 to slide into first on the program record books in the 200, as well. Â Â
Â
Between the two events, Nastasi has landed on the podium 14 times this season, including eight top three finishes. Additionally, he's been a key leg of the Spring Hill men's 4x100 relay team, with the group's fastest time of the year coming at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
Â
The men's 100 prelims will begin at 6:10 p.m. CT on Thursday, May 21, with Nastasi competing with 21 other individuals from across the country for a spot in the final. Lane and heat assignments will be announced by the NCAA at a later date, with the top eight prelim qualifiers taking part in the final on Saturday, May 23 at 4:55 p.m. CT.
