COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 2026 SIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships got underway on Tuesday, with a handful of Spring Hill athletes taking part. In total, three Badgers qualified in Tuesday's prelims, while another three set new personal bests. Additionally,
Mariam Cosky and
Grant Nastasi both set new program records, and the Spring Hill record books saw another shakeup in the top ten.
Program record holder
Mariam Cosky finished second in her 400 hurdles prelim with a school record time of 1:05.38, and she will compete in the finals on Thursday afternoon. On the men's side, Ben Harris (57.05) fell just short of qualifying, finishing in 11th place out of 26 competitors while landing in third on the program record book.
JaTerralyn Hamilton turned in a time of 25.27 the prelims of the women's 200, landing in 13th place individually.
Grant Nastasi (21.54) set a new program record while qualifying with a sixth-place finish in the men's race, while freshmen
Devon Nash (22.96) is now eighth all-time and Alston (23.60) set a new collegiate best.
In the women's 800,
Cecilia Light (2:22.90) punched her ticket to the finals with a sixth-place finish.
Erik Lindmark took 11th behind a time of 1:59.37 as the lone Badger competing in the men's 800.
The men's 4x100 relay team of
Theo Hubbard, Nastasi, King and Alston finished with a preliminary time of 42.81, officially missing the top eight by approximately a quarter of a second. In the lone field event of the day for Spring Hill,
Kobe King (6.42m/21' ¾") took 13th in the men's long jump, while teammate Cavan Alston turned in a new career-best mark of 5.99m (19' 7 ¾") to land in 20th.
