Badgers Start Postseason With 6-4 Win Over Lane

MACON, Ga. – The Spring Hill College baseball team started its postseason run with a 6-4 win over Lane at Luther Williams Field on Thursday.

Nick Hunter led the Badgers with three hits, three runs and a walk in five at-bats. AJ Swader and Jack Taylor led with two RBIs apiece.
 
The Badgers (37-12) opened scoring behind an RBI double from Taylor in the opening frame. The Dragons (14-30) responded with a run in the third.
 
Swader scored on an error by Lane to give SHC the 2-1 lead in the third. The Dragons hit back-to-back home runs to start the fourth and grabbed a 3-2 lead.
 
Spring Hill responded with a two-run homer from Swader and another run on an error in the fourth to regain the lead, 5-3. Lane scored again in the fifth to cut the deficit, but was unable to overcome the Badgers' lead.
 
SHC scored an insurance run on an error in the fifth to secure the 6-4 win.
 
Michael Racobaldo (9-1) earned the win with five strikeout, four runs and four walks across 5.0 innings. Kaleb Bush came in relief and sat down five batters while giving up just two hits in 4.0 innings of work.
 
The Badgers will take on the winner of No. 4 Albany State versus No. 5 Miles on Friday at 3 p.m. (ET).
