PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Spring Hill College baseball team's ninth-inning rally versus West Florida fell short on Tuesday night. The Badgers fell 5-4 to the Argos in the midweek non-conference contest at Jim Spooner Field.

AJ Swader led Spring Hill (31-10) at the plate with a home run, three RBIs, two hits and two runs in four at-bats. He also showed some speed off on the basepaths, stealing a bag.

The Badgers trailed West Florida (26-15) 3-0 in the second inning before Swader hit his no-doubt homer to center field in the fifth. The Argonauts responded with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Swader brought the game within one run, 4-3, with a two-run single in the sixth. UWF was able to extend its lead to 5-3 with a home run in its half of the inning.

Bryce Anderson started the rally effort for Spring Hill in the ninth with a sacrifice fly to right field that brought Swader home. The rally fizzled out, with West Florida taking the 5-4 win.

Arlon Butts threw six strikeouts in 6.0 innings after making the start.
Landen Harris and
Kaleb Bush both had scoreless outings on the mound.
