Badgers Defeat No. 11 Wolf Pack

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team defeated No. 11 Loyola (La.) in a non-conference matchup, 9-6, at Sims-Galle Field on Wednesday.
 
The Badgers improved to 18-9 overall while the No. 11-ranked Wolf Pack fell to 21-7.
 
Jackson Bell hit his third home run of the season to seal the 9-6 win for SHC. The redshirt senior led the game with his homer, three hits, three RBIs and a run in five at-bats.
 
Loyola struck first with three runs in the opening frame. Seth Williams got Spring Hill on the board later in the inning with an RBI double to cut the deficit to 3-1.
 
The Badgers tied the game at 3-3 in the second. Bryce Anderson reached on a fielder's choice and Bell followed with an RBI single to center field.
 
AJ Swader scored in the third on a bases-loaded hit by pitch, followed by Reggie Cooper scoring on a bases-loaded walk. Anderson struck a two-run double to left field to extend Spring Hill's lead to 7-3.
 
Bell belted a first-pitch home run into left center and scored a pair of runs to make it 9-3. Loyola's rally efforts across the eighth and ninth fell short as the Badgers held on to win, 9-6.
 
Starting pitcher Isaac Crabb earned his fourth win of the season after striking out five batters in 5.0 innings of work. In total, the SHC pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts on the night.
