Badgers Finish SIAC Crossover Undefeated

HOOVER, Ala. – The Spring Hill College Softball team finished the SIAC Crossover undefeated, winning against Allen (14-1), Benedict (15-0) and Clark Atlanta (14-4).
 
Spring Hill 14, Allen 1 
Lauren Glass (W: 2-1); Tylar Crawford (L:0-1)  
 
Spring Hill (11-11, 9-1 SIAC) was rolling early against Allen (0-8, 0-5 SIAC).  13 of the Badgers' 14 runs came in the first two innings.  
 
Abigail Christ, Kayla Coley-Drayton and Destiny Pierce led the team with 2-for-2 outings at the plate and contributing eight of the team's 13 RBIs. Bethany Ahrens added to the surge with a two-run homer, her second of the season. 
  
Lauren Glass (3-3) kept the Yellow Jackets at bay, allowing a single run and striking out eight batters in her complete game. 
 
Spring Hill 15, Benedict 0 
Emma Curry (W: 5-3), Kierra Evans (L: 1-4)
 
The Badgers continued their dominant play against Benedict, scoring four runs in three of the five innings against the Tigers (9-12, 6-9 SIAC).
 
Rycca Hinton had a hot bat, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and eight RBIs. McKenzie King, Natalee Curry and Taylor Pittman were also perfect at the plate, all going 2-for-2. Amanda Glowacki accounted for four of the runs against the Tigers.  
 
Emma Curry (5-3) tossed the complete game while giving up only two hits and striking out one.  
 
Spring Hill 14, Clark Atlanta 4 
Leighanna Turk (W: 2-3), MaKayla Bell (L: 1-12)
 
SHC closed out the week with a win against Clark Atlanta (4-19, 2-11 SIAC). Pierce started the scoring with a two-RBI double and went on to score on a Panther error. This was followed by an RBI double from Pittman.
 
Glowacki and Gordon both reached base as well in the first. Hinton capped off the rally with a two-run homer, bringing the Badger lead to 8-0.
 
In the third, Gordon expanded the lead with a three-run homer, the first of her career. The following inning, Carter drove in Glowacki to seal the game.
 
Leighanna Turk (2-3) struck out four in her complete game for Spring Hill.
