MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team dominated Montevallo in Tuesday's 16-6 victory at Bob Risener Stadium. The Badgers improved their win streak to nine games.
Â
Spring Hill 16, Montevallo 6
Isaac Crabb (W: 3-1); Mason Creacy (L: 1-1)
Â
AJ Swader led the way and opened scoring with a two-run single in the fourth.
Seth Williams tacked on another run on an RBI double in the fifth to make it 3-0 Badgers (16-8, 11-1 SIAC).
Â
Spring Hill continued its scoring run through the seventh, stacking on six more runs. The run was highlighted by a home run to right field by
AJ Swader.
Â
Montevallo (12-11, 6-6 GSC) responded with a five-run stretch of its own across the seventh and eighth. SHC put up seven more runs in the ninth, capped off by a pair of RBI doubles from Swader and
Bryce Anderson.
Â
The Falcons' rally efforts were too little, too late in the ninth. A single home run by Montevallo in the final frame did not cut much into the Badgers' 16-6 lead.
Â
Swader led the game with a homer, five RBIs and two runs on three hits in six at-bats. Four Badgers doubled in total: Swader, Anderson,
Jack Taylor and
Seth Williams.
Â
As a team, Spring Hill recorded a season-high 17 hits and 27 putouts.
Â
Isaac Crabb (3-1) earned the win after starting the game and recording six strikeouts, two talks and two earned runs in 6.1 innings.
