CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Spring Hill College baseball team dropped in the final two games of the Delta State Series at Ferriss Field on Saturday.
Â
In game one, the Statesmen (4-3, 0-0 GSC) jumped ahead 4-0 in the opening frame.
Parker Serio got the Badgers (1-6, 0-0 SIAC) on the board with his second home run of the year that brought home three runs.
Â
Delta State answered with a nine-run scoring stretch through the fourth.
Jackson Bell scored on an error in the bottom of the fifth to chip into the deficit.
Â
DSU stacked six more runs on in their half of the fifth to extend the lead.
Holden Robinson knocked a triple to center field in the seventh to start the SHC rally.
David King brought him home shortly after, followed by
Enrique Baraza's first career homer that scored a pair of runs.
Â
In the end, Spring Hill was overcome and run ruled, 19-8 in the opening contest.
Â
In the second game of the doubleheader,
AJ Swader opened scoring in the first with a three-run home run. Delta State answered with a run in the bottom of the first.
Â
Nick Hunter brought
