Badgers Drop Doubleheader Against West Florida

MOBILE, Ala. - The Spring Hill College Softball team dropped both games against West Florida in Wednesday's doubleheader.
 
GAME ONE | West Florida 5, Spring Hill 1
Haley Guffey (W: 6-3): Legihanna Turk (L: 1-3)
 
West Florida (11-6, 4-2 GSC) came to Murray Field off of a hot start to their campaign. Spring Hill (2-10, 0-0 SIAC) went down three in the first two innings. In the third, Destiny Pierce was able to get the team back to within two with a solo home run that bounced off the scoreboard.
 
The Argonauts responded, pulling away in the fourth and fifth, adding two more runs.
 
Offensively, Taylor Pittman, Jesslyn Gordon and Abigail Christ each recorded a hit.
 
Leighanna Turk (1-3) opened the game and completed two innings before Emma Curry came in relief, pitching four innings and striking out a batter. Lauren Glass closed the game, where she also stuck out a batter. 
 
GAME TWO | West Florida 8, Spring Hill 1
Hannah Harper (W:5-1); Lauren Glass (L: 2-1)
 
West Florida scored three runs in the first. However, Amanda Glowacki was able to send Hinton home in the second off a fielders' choice to cut down the lead.
 
The Argonauts added on more runs in the fifth and sixth to pull away.
 
Hinton led the team in hits, going 2-for-3 with a double in the second. Oscha Carter also got in the hit column in the sixth with a nicely laid bunt mixed with blazing speed to beat out the throw.
 
Glass (2-1) started the second game pitching five innings, where she added another strike out. Bethany Ahrens finished the game out with three strike outs.
