HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Spring Hill College beach volleyball team defeated Loyola (La.), 4-1, and fell to Southern Miss, 3-2, during the final day of the Beachburg Invitational at the Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Complex on Saturday.
 
Spring Hill (13-14) started the final day of its final regular-season tournament with a 4-1 win against regional foe Loyola (La.) (8-12, 7-4 SUN). Cassidy Granger and Isabella Muti took the first point for the Sandy Badgers on the No. 5 court (21-13, 19-21, 15-7).
 
Jaylyne Bell and Lily Mascari captured the victory (21-8, 21-8) without allowing their opponent to break 10 points in either set in the No. 3 flight. Linnea Beger and Ally Lane (23-21, 21-8) earned their first victory of the season and clinched the match point for SHC on court No. 1.
 
Mia Saavedra improved to three-straight wins with duo partner Ashlyn Whiteside on the No. 2 court (21-10, 21-12).

In their final match at the Beachburg Invitational the Sandy Badgers fell 3-2 to Division-I opponent Southern Miss (11-14, 2-4 SBC). Elizabeth Hardouin and Emily Weinzapfel started the match with a 21-17, 21-17 win in the No. 4 flight.
 
Granger and Muti kept things going for Spring Hill with a 21-18, 21-17 win on the No. 5 court. The Golden Eagles swept the next three matches and sealed their win.
