MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team swept Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Morehouse in a doubleheader at Sims-Galle Field on Friday.
Spring Hill (23-16, 15-1 SIAC) was led by
Jackson Bell, who went 9-for-6 and tallied five RBIs and four runs across both games. Bell had three triples between the two victories. Morehouse fell to 15-17-1 overall and 13-15 in conference play in the losses.Â
In game one, the Badgers plated two runs in the first inning to go up 2-0. The Maroon Tigers answered with one run in the second before Spring Hill piled on eight more runs across three innings to take a 10-1 lead. Morehouse showed life with a seven-run throughout the fifth and sixth innings. SHC brought in six runs in the sixth to solidify the 16-8 victory in the first game.Â
Chad Coffman took the win on the mound after striking out three batters and only giving up one hit across 3.2 innings. Cameron Solomon suffered the loss for the Maroon Tigers.
Spring Hill kept rolling in game two, scoring in every inning on its way to a 13-1 series-clinching win over Morehouse. The Badgers scored eight runs by the third inning before the Maroon Tigers were able to answer with their lone run of the game in the fourth. SHC hung on to defeat Morehouse and clinch the series with the doubleheader sweep.
Jackson Short took the win on the bump in game two, going five innings and striking out four while only surrendering two hits.Vincent Latimer went. back with a loss on the mound for Morehouse.
