Penin-Alberdi leads SHC to conference win over UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.  – Mikel Penin-Alberdi recorded a brace en route to a 5-1 Gulf South Conference (GSC) win for the Spring Hill College men's soccer team over Alabama-Huntsville on Sunday.
 
Kickoff was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. but was delayed due to lightning in the area. Penin Alberdi scored the first goal of his collegiate career at 15:25 to give the Badgers an early 1-0 lead over the Chargers. SHC leading scorer Johannes Hanken Tjostheim tacked on another goal at 18:04, SHC led 2-0. Alabama-Huntsville answered at 20:36 to cut the Spring Hill lead to 2-1.
 
In the second half, Manuel Mihalits found Hugo Frivold at 53:10 and assisted him with a goal to give the Badgers a 3-1 lead. Albert Vila Truco added to the SHC lead at 67:10 with a goal of his own, making it 4-1 in favor of SHC. Penin Alberdi recorded a brace at 83:51 and solidified the Badgers' 5-1 win.  
 
SHC improved to 2-2-1 and 1-0-1 in GSC play, while Alabama-Huntsville fell to 0-5-1 and 0-2-0 in conference play. The Badgers now hold the all-time series advantage (5-4) over the Chargers. Spring Hill has won the last four matches between the two schools.
