Schwarz joins women's soccer as assistant coach

MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College women's soccer Head Coach Samantha Thomsit announced the addition of Luke Schwarz to the women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach on Wednesday.

"[I'm] learning a lot and I'm excited," Schwarz said. "It's going to be good to learn from Samantha [Thomsit]. [I] got a lot to learn and want to help out however I can."

Schwarz joins the Badgers from Out-of-Door Academy in Sarasota, Fla., where he helped lead the boy's varsity soccer team to the district finals as an assistant coach. Prior to that he was the assistant coach for the girl's varsity soccer team at Out-of-Door. Before taking his first assistant coach role at Out-of-Door, Schwarz was the head coach of the middle school girl's soccer team at the academy.

"I'm excited for Luke [Schwarz] to join the staff, I think something that we're going to focus on is player development and he's worked a lot with individual athletes over the years," Head Coach Samantha Thomsit said. "I think he's going to be comfortable taking players and developing them on the technical side. He brings a lot of energy, he's younger, he's got good ideas and I think he's going to help this team move forward."

While coaching, Schwarz played in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) for three years. He has played for the PSE Conquistadores (2021) and Sarasota Metropolis (2019-21). He led Metropolis as a captain to a Division Championship and the UPSL Round of 32 in 2021. He has also played in the USL League Two (USL2) for Sarasota, Daytona SC (2019) and FC Cleburne (2018). Schwarz also played in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) for the Orlando Seawolves in 2019.

Prior to his professional playing career, Schwarz graduated from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas in 2018 with a Bachelor's of Arts in business administration. During his time with the Crusaders, Schwarz was selected to multiple SCAC All-Conference and All-Tournament teams. He also was named the men's soccer team captain for three years and team MVP for two.

Schwarz holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) D License.
