Badgers sweep SIAC DH away from Magicians

MOBILE, Ala. (April 9, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team swept both ends of a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader versus the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians by the scores of 16-6 and 20-4 on Saturday afternoon at historic Stan Gale Field.
 
The Magicians (4-20; 2-13 SIAC) surrendered 13 hits and nine walks to the Badgers in the first game as catcher Daniel Seres ended the contest by the 10-run Mercy Rule with a walk-off Grand Slam to right with one out in the bottom of the 8th inning.
 
First baseman Micah Morgan had two hits with five RBI while second baseman Frankie Timphony collected two hits with a double and two RBI. Seres finished with three hits and five RBI while centerfielder Gage Ragona and right fielder Cade Simpson each picked up two hits for the home team.
 
Colin Millar improved to 6-3 on the year in 6.1 innings of work, giving up just three hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Kaleb Bush pitched the final 1.2 innings with three hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
 
The Badgers racked up 19 more hits in the nightcap as Ragona was 4-for-5 with two RBI, a triple and a homer while Morgan added a 4-for-4 effort with two doubles, a homer and five RBI. Connor Bendeck came off the bench to contribute two doubles and three RBI.
 
Parker Doyle came into the game at second base to put a single, a double and three RBI in the book. Bryson Kirk also wrote down a single and a double with three RBI from his starting right field slot.
 
Logan Clark (5-2) went 5.0 innings allowing five hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
 
The Badgers (21-11; 13-4 SIAC) will host the Magicians again on Sunday in a single game beginning at 1 p.m.
