Badgers upstage Magicians, 27-5

MOBILE, Ala. (April 10, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team completed a 3-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) sweep of the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians with a 27-5 outcome at historic Stan Galle Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Magicians (4-21; 2-14 SIAC) grabbed an early 5-0 lead in the 1st inning, but a 15-run explosion by the Badgers in the bottom of the 2nd inning ended the threat.

SHC belted 21 hits with seven walks and just two strikeouts in the 7-inning Mercy-Rule- shortened contest. Seven Badgers had multiple hits led by right fielder Grayson Williams with three hits, including a home run and four RBI. Second baseman Parker Doyle also tallied three hits with two RBI.

Michael Romano (2-1) earned the win in 2.0 innings of hitless relief with five strikeouts while Jackson Short went 3.0 innings with two hits and six strikeouts. Five SHC pitchers limited LOC to five hits and a walk with 16 strikeouts.

The Badgers (22-11; 14-4 SIAC) will visit the Southeastern Baptist College Chargers (7-15) in Laurel, Miss. on Tuesday in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
