PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 26, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team finished the road portion of its 2022 schedule with a 4-2 loss to the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts at Jim Spooner Field on Wednesday night.
The Argonauts (22-19) took a 2-0 lead in the 2
nd inning when an infield error by the Badgers ultimately resulted in two runs scoring for UWF, but SHC answered with a run in the 5
th inning when right fielder
Grayson Williams drove an RBI-double into right center.
A Badger wild pitch in the 6
th inning brought in a run from 3
rd base and a sacrifice fly to right put the Argos up 4-1 after seven innings. Pinch hitter
Cade Simpson of SHC made it 4-2 with a sac fly in the 8
th inning, but the Badgers would draw no closer.

Alex Holz (2-1) took the loss in 2.0 inning, giving up two hits and one walk with two strikeouts as five Badger pitchers allowed four hits, five walks and five strikeouts on the night.
Six Agro six pitchers combined to surrender eight hits and five walks with 10 strikeouts to the Badger lineup. Sam Brown (1-0) was the winner in two relief innings and Jacob Estes recorded his fourth save of the season, allowing just one hit in 2.0 innings of work.

Gage Ragona each tallied two hits with a double for SHC. Ragona also extended his reached base streak to 44 games, having now reached base in every Badger contest of 2022.
The Badgers (31-13; 20-4 SIAC) will host the Miles College Golden Bears (23-18; 19-7) in a 3-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series this weekend at historic Stan Galle Field with the SIAC West Division title on the line, beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday and followed by a noon doubleheader on Saturday. Between games on Saturday, the Badgers will honor their Senior Class teammates with the annual Senior Day ceremony.
