CINCINNATI, Ohio (April 15, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team took two Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) victories away from the Kentucky State University (KYSU) Thorobreds on Friday afternoon at Gendell Family Field with a 14-0 win in the opening contest followed by a 13-4 outcome in the nightcap.
In the first game,
Colin Millar (7-3) picked up the win in 5.0 innings, allowing just two hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.
Kaleb Bush finished the final two innings with one hit and one walk allowed to go along with three strikeouts.
Gage Ragona,
Norris McClure, and
Grant Akridge each connected for home runs while Ragona had three hits with five RBI and Akridge found two hits with four RBI. The Badgers totaled 13 hits with six walks.
The second game saw
Logan Clark improve to 6-2 on the year in 5.0 innings that included just two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.
Michael Romano closed the final 2.0 innings with two hits, no walks and one strikeout.
Ragona added three hits with a double to his dailies while
Micah Morgan had two hits with two RBI. Right fielder
Grayson Williams found a home run as did left fielder
Luke Sweeney who enjoyed a 3-hit game.
The Badgers also surpassed the team's single season home run record by cranking out 59 dingers so far in 2022. The previous mark of 54 was set in 2001.
The Badgers (26-11; 16-4 SIAC) remain in Cincinnati overnight to face the Thorobreds (17-16; 12-7 SIAC) in the final game of this 3-game series in a single game at noon (eastern) on Saturday.
