MOBILE, Ala. (March 5, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team lost a 4-2 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) decision to the Savannah State University (SSU) Tigers on Saturday night at historic Stan Galle Field.
Jose Santiago (4-0) of the Tigers (10-5; 6-1 SIAC East) held the Badgers hitless for five innings before giving up a solo home run to left by right fielder
Grayson Williams in the 6
th innings that tied the game at 1-1.
Savannah would score three runs in the 8
th inning aided by two Badger infield errors and two wild pitches to grind out a 4-1 advantage before SHC scratched across a run by center fielder
Gage Ragona off a wild pitch in the bottom of the 8
th inning.
Santaigo pitched eight complete innings with three hits allowed, five walks and 12 strikeouts before yielding the mound to Matthew Terril who collected his second save of the year with no hits, a walk and a strikeout in the 9
th inning.
Conner Ingram pitched six solid innings for SHC allowing just three hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
Colin Millar (1-3) took the loss in 3.0 innings with two hits, a walk, and seven strikeouts.
The Badgers (6-6; 0-1 SIAC West) will finish this 3-game conference series versus the Tigers with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. on historic Stan Galle Field.
