Badgers Baseball opens 2022 with DH sweep

MOBILE, Ala. (February 5, 2022) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team opened the 2022 season with a pair of home victories over the Southeastern Baptist College Chargers on Saturday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field.

The Badgers took an 11-7 win over the Chargers (0-2) in the opening contest, jumping out to a 6-0 lead with a 4-run 1st inning and a 2-run 2nd frame. Conner Ingram (1-0) earned the win by allowing just two hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

The nightcap saw the Badgers score early and often with 4-run 1st and 2nd innings along with an 8-run 3rd stanza. Logan Clark (1-0) was the winner with three walks and nine strikeouts as he combined with Jack Lahr, Michael Romano and Logan McKeever for the no-hitter.

Shortstop Norris McClure was 4-of-5 with a double and four RBI on the day while designated hitter Grant Akridge was 3-of-5 with a double and four RBI and centerfielder Gage Ragona was 4-of-8 at the leadoff position with two doubles and three RBI. First baseman Micah Morgan was 3-of-6 with a double and three RBI as catcher Bryce Walker slapped a 2-run triple in Game 2.

The Badgers (2-0) will next host the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks on Wednesday in a non-conference single game beginning at 3 p.m. on Stan Galle Field.
