CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (September 25, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team finished Day 2 of the annual Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Divisional Crossover on Saturday with three victories over the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams, conference newcomers the Edward Waters University (EWU) Tigers, and the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Wildcats at the LakePoint Sports Complex.
In the day's opening contest with the Golden Rams (5-5; 3-1 SIAC), outside hitter
Emily Weinzapfel was a one-woman army, leading the Badgers with 13 kills, a .275 attack percentage (13-2-40), three service aces, 20 digs and two (1-1) blocks. Freshman setter
Jessica Fairly handed out 25 assists.
SHC hit .181 (43-15-155) as a team with six aces, 98 digs and nine (8-2) blocks in the 3-1 (25-16; 25-17; 22-25; 25-13) win.
The noon contest saw the Badgers limit the upstart Tigers (5-6) to a .184 (29-10-103) attack percentage while building a .356 (44-7-104) hitting percentage of their own. Weinzapfel again reached double-digits in kills with 10, but politely allowed other Badgers to play in this match as junior middle hitter
Kassandra Fairly recorded an impressive .625 (10-0-16) attack percentage with three aces and Jessie Fairly passed around 28 assists.

Mikayla Boyer hauled in 20 of the 65 SHC digs as the Badger team totaled service eight aces with eight (6-2) blocks in the 3-0 (25-15; 25-12; 25-17) sweep.
During their transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II, contests with the Tigers cannot count toward a team's conference standings or statistics.
At the final match of the day with the Wildcats (3-4; 0-2 SIAC), SHC cruised to a 3-0 (25-8; 25-14; 25-13) victory as freshman
Airyonna Weaver added 10 kills to her totals and
Brooke Borgmeyer tallied nine kills.
Courtney Faulkner put up three aces with two solo blocks while Jessie Fairly earned 23 assists and Boyer had 14 digs.
SHC hit for a .403 (38-7-77) average with five aces, seven (4-6) blocks and 43 digs while holding FVSU to a .017 average (16-15-60) with two aces, 20 digs and three solo blocks.
The Badgers (13-4; 7-0 SIAC) will wrap up play at the SIAC Divisional Crossover on Sunday with matches against the Savannah State University Tigers (3-3; 1-1 SIAC), the Clark Atlanta University Panthers (1-2; 0-1 SIAC), and the Benedict College Tigers (3-1; 0-0 SIAC) at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m., respectively.
