Volley Badgers sweep tri-match at UMobile

MOBILE, Ala. (September 18, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team swept both ends of a non-conference tri-match versus the Brewton Parker College Barons and the University of Mobile Lady Rams on Saturday afternoon at H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.

In the first match with the Barons (2-9), SHC rolled to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-15) victory building a team attack percentage of .324 (44-9-108) with eight aces, 69 digs and five blocks

Olivia Peyton paced the offense with a .600 (9-0-15) attack percentage and three blocks (2-1) while Grace Harris and Jessica Fairly had 21 and 20 assists respectively. Harris also served up four aces. Mikayla Boyer added 16 digs while Brooke Borgmeyer hauled in 13 digs.

The second match saw the Badgers match up with crosstown rivals the Lady Rams (10-1) in an absolute thriller that went down to final point with the Badgers outlasting Mobile 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18, 15-13).

SHC hit .247 (59-13-186) as a team with six aces, 110 digs and 10 blocks. Kassandra Fairly led the way with 16 kills while Airyonna Weaver had 13 kills and two solo blocks. Jessica Fairly distributed 31 assists and Harris added 26 more While Boyer corralled 15 digs.

The Badgers (8-4) will next visit Hattiesburg, Miss. for a non-conference match with the William Carey University (WCU) Lady Crusaders (5-5) at 6 p.m. in the Ben Waddle Volleyball Facility.
