Badgers sprint past Thorobreds

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team swept a doubleheader away from the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobreds by the scores of 8-3 and 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The Badgers opened the first game with a bang as 1st baseman Walker Imwalle and left fielder Micah Morgan both lifted 2-run home runs in the top of the 1st inning as SHC built a quick 4-0 advantage.

Four more runs crossed the plate for SHC in the 6th inning as a double by Morgan brought in shortstop Daniel Rodriguez, 3rd baseman Norris McClure plated Morgan with a single to center and center fielder Joseph Guidry slapped another 2-run blast out of center field.

Geo Camfield (3-3) earned the complete-game victory with eight hits allowed along with two walks and six strike outs. Dashawn Hureskin (2-2) took the complete-game loss with eight hits allowed, a walk and three strike outs.

Spring Hill took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning of the second game, but the Thorobreds halved the lead to 2-1 off a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame.

SHC catcher Kolby McWilliams got that run right back in the 4th with a solo shot out of right and Imwalle put two insurance runs on the board with a double to right in the 5th inning.

Conner Ingram (2-2) got the 5-inning win allowing just two hits with two walks and four strike outs. Colin Millar earned his second save of the year by finishing the final six outs with three strike outs, a fly out and two ground balls.

Brady Bibbs (2-3) accepted the complete-game loss for KSU with six hits, five walks and four strike outs.

The Badgers (13-12) will finish this series with the Thorobreds (6-7) on Sunday at 11 a.m. (EDT) at Alumni Field.
