JACKSON, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) Badgers baseball team split results with the Lane College Dragons on Sunday afternoon in The Ballpark at Jackson, dropping the opening game 5-2 before bouncing back to shutout the Dragons 14-0 in the nightcap.
In the first game, a 4-run 3
rd inning by the Dragons blew open a 1-1 tie as SHC starter
AJ Fell (0-3) took the loss in 3.0 innings with four hits, a walk and five strikeouts.
Taylor Gibson finished the final three innings with two hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
First baseman
Walker Imwalle had two hits including his fourth home run of the year for the Badgers.
Miles pitcher Christian Armstrong (1-1) went 4.2 innings with five hits, two walks and no strikeouts as well as collecting two hits at the plate to help his own cause. Third baseman Melvin Crayton provided the game's biggest blow with a 2-out, 3-run double in the 3
rd to break open the contest.
The second game was all Badgers as
Geo Camfield (1-3) earned his first win of the season with 4.1 innings of work that allowed just one hit with three walks and six strikeouts. Joel Ballard (1-3) of Miles lasted just 1.0 innings with six hits, two walks and one strikeout.
Center fielder
Joseph Guidry slapped a double and a triple with an RBI and three runs scored while third baseman
Nicky Gibbs belted his second home run of the 2021 campaign and designated hitter
Mason Bonnaffons ripped out three hits with two RBI. All told, nine of the Badgers' 12 hits went for extra bases.
On Monday, the Badgers (5-10) will finish this 4-game series with the Dragons (7-10) in a noon doubleheader at The Ballpark at Jackson.
