Errors costly to Badgers in 7-3 loss to Loyola

MOBILE, Ala. – Three errors in the top of the 3rd inning led to three runs for Loyola University (La.) and virtually doomed the Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team to a 7-3 loss on Tuesday night at historic Stan Galle Field.

The Badgers (4-6) took an early lead with a solo home run out of right field by designated hitter Mason Bonnaffons with one out in the 1st inning, but Loyola put three runs on the board via three errors by SHC in the 3rd inning.

Nine Wolf Pack (14-8) pitchers held the Badgers to five hits with Alexander Acevado (2-0) being in the right place at the right time by pitching the 2nd inning with no hits and two strikeouts to pick up the win.

Badger starter Geo Camfield (0-3) took the loss in 2.2 innings of work with five hits, no walks and no strikeouts.

Shortstop Payton Alexander had three hits for Loyola with center fielder Aaron Davis collecting two doubles and first baseman Michael Calamari launching a 3-run bomb out of right in the 9th inning to seal the Wolf Pack victory.

SHC shortstop Daniel Rodriguez had two hits and while left field Micah Morgan slapped a run-scoring double to left-center in the 9th inning.

The Badgers (4-6) will visit the Davidson College Wildcats (5-8) this weekend for a 3-game set beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. (EDT) at Wilson Field in Davidson, N.C.
