BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (November 5, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team fell 85-57 to the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Blazers in a preseason exhibition game on Friday night at Bartow Arena.

Tyashia Bostick paced the Badgers with 21 points while center
Ariel Thompson had nine points with six rebounds. The Badgers shot 40.4% (19-47) from the floor and 26.7% (4-15) from 3-point range. SHC showed a drastic improvement in the free throw shooting from Monday's game at South Alabama by shooting 93.8% (15-16) from the charity stripe.
SHC held its own under the boards as UAB took a 30-25 victory in rebounding, but 24 Badger turnovers in the face of eight UAB steals resulted in 29 points for the home team.
UAB's Zakyia Weathersby led four Blazers into double-digit scoring with 20 points and eight rebounds as UAB shot 56.4% (31-55) from the field and 38.5% (5-13) from long range. The Blazers lost 15 turnovers to three SHC steals.
The Badgers will open the 2021-22 regular season on Friday, November 12 when they travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. to play the hosting Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) Eagles in the Bahama House Classic at the ICI Center beginning at 6 p.m. (east)
