DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 20, 2021) – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's basketball team closed out play at the 2021 Bahama House Classic with a 99-71 loss to the Flagler College Saints on Saturday evening at the ICI Center.
The Saints (2-2) raced out to a 13-2 lead four minutes into the game and maintained a 23-12 lead by the second media timeout at the 11:28 mark of the first half. At halftime, the Saints held a 47-31 advantage.
By the 10:36 mark of the second half, Flagler had built a 77-47 lead and never looked back.
David Daniels paced the Badgers with 21 points including a 13-of-18 performance at the free throw line.
Denys Bobchuk scored 15 points and
Jaden Gray added 12 points. SHC shot 41.1% (23-56) from the floor and 12.5% (2-16) from 3-point distance. The Badgers lost 16 turnovers to 13 steals by Flagler who cashed them in for 24 points-off-turnovers.
The Saints shot an impressive 56% (38-68) from the field and 40% (12-30) from long distance while out-rebounding the Badgers 38-36. Guard Jaizec Lottie led all scorers with 24 points as four Saints reached double-digits in scoring.
Flagler opened the 2021-22 season ranked No. 2 in the National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA) Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll for NCAA Division II.
These two teams will meet again on the Badgers' home court in Mobile, Ala. on Friday, December 3, 2021.
The Badgers (0-3) will host the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts (3-0) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
