Badgers hand Sims career win No. 950 in DH sweep of UMSL

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team allowed six runs in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader with the University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL) Tritons on Saturday afternoon, but rallied to steal a 14-10 victory and hand Badger head coach Frank Sims his 950th career win. In the nightcap, Logan Clark (1-1) pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Badgers to a 6-0 victory.

Badger starter Conner Ingram struggled through two-thirds of an inning and allowed six runs off five hits before being relieved by Geo Camfield (2-0) who lasted the next 4.1 frames with four hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Michael Novak and Michael Romano would each pitch a full inning and surrender one run apiece.

Left fielder Cade Simpson and catcher Daniel Seres both punched out two hits for SHC with Seres notching his second homer of the young campaign to leadoff the 3rd inning.

Game Two was a more straight-forward affair as Clark scattered six hits while going the distance in a 7-inning contest, giving up just two walks with six strikeouts. Second baseman Frankie Timphony slapped two hits while Novak moved to catcher and ripped a two-run single right in the 2nd inning to stake the Badgers to an early lead.

The Badgers (8-6) will host the Tritons (2-4) again on Sunday at Stan Galle Field in a single game beginning at noon.
