MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team split results in a non-conference doubleheader versus the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) Panthers at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field on Saturday afternoon, falling 8-0 in the opener before bouncing back to earn a 3-2 victory in the nightcap.
The Panthers (2-7) pounded out 10 hits versus SHC pitching as starter
Conner Ingram (0-2) and
RJ DelRio both surrendered five hits. Ingram lasted six innings with three walks and four strikeouts while DelRio finished the final two frames with two walks and no strikeouts.
Andrew Marzheuser (1-1) went eight innings for the Panthers allowing just two hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.
SHC responded in Game Two by taking a 3-2 victory in 10 innings when
Hunter Romero lifted a sacrifice fly that scored
Joe Stevens with the winning run.
Michael Romano (1-0) picked up the win in relief over two innings with two hits, no walks and three strikeouts. Jake Lane (0-2) took the loss for FIT with one inning, three walks and one strikeout.
The Badgers (4-5) and the Panthers will face off again on Sunday in the rubber game beginning at 12 p.m. (Eastern) at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.
