FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) court volleyball team opened play at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster on Thursday with a 3-1 (25-13, 23-25, 25-10, 25-20) win over the hosting Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobretts (1-2, 0-1 SIAC) in the Exum Center.

Kassandra Fairly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., slapped 14 kills with four blocks for the Badgers as senior setter
Emmarose Neibert of Arnold, Mo., dished out 38 assists and served up four aces. Senior libero
Cassidi Sterrett from Lee's Summit, Mo., collected 16 digs with eight assists.
Other top SHC performers included junior middle hitter
Bentley Odom out of Murphy High School in Mobile, Ala., and senior outside hitter
Taylor Hurst of Gulf Shores, Ala., with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
As a team, SHC hit for a .260 (51-18-127) attack percentage with 51 assists and eight service aces. The Badger defense tallied a season-high nine blocks and 46 digs as KSU managed a .018 (29-27-112) attack percentage with eight aces, eight blocks and 45 digs.
The Badgers (2-4, 1-0 SIAC) continue play in the SIAC West Division Cluster at the Exum Center on Friday versus the Miles College Golden Bears (0-1) at 11 a.m., the LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians (0-0) at 1 p.m., and the Lane College Lady Dragons (0-0) at 5 p.m.
