MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College baseball team wrapped up a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series with LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday at Historic Stan Galle Field.
Game 1
The Badgers smashed their way to a win in Game 1, plating 14 runs on 12 hits while scoring in every at-bat they had in a 14-3 win.
John Sklopan got the scoring going in the 1st inning with a RBI single to right centerfield. A double from Mason Bonnaffons in the 2nd inning drove in two more runs for the hosts.
Spring Hill pushed two more runs across in the 3rd inning thanks to a RBI single from Spencer Miller and a sacrifice fly from Grayson Williams.
SHC scored two runs in each of the next two innings highlighted by sacrifice flies from Daniel Rodriguez and Neil Ring.
With the bases loaded in the 6th inning, Nick Chiasson cleared them with a triple to center field. Chiasson would score on an error to round out the scoring for the Badgers.
Chance Shell (3-2) got the win in 4.0 innings of work. Shell gave up no runs on six hits and struck out three.
Game 2
Spring Hill benefited from a big 2nd inning that saw the Badgers get two hits while earning five walks and a hit batsmen that led to eight runs scored en route to a 16-0 victory.
The win secured a series sweep over LeMoyne-Owen and planted Spring Hill atop the standings in the SIAC West.
Rodriguez and Alex Hunt led SHC with two RBI each.
AJ Fell (2-0) got the win for the Badgers. Fell pitched 4.0 innings and gave up no runs and only four hits.
SHC (23-14, 15-3) heads to Montgomery on Tuesday, April 16th, for a midweek contest with the Warhawks of AUM. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
