MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College Badgers baseball team began a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series with LeMoyne-Owen College on Friday at Historic Stan Galle Field, winning the first two games of the four-game set, 3-1 and 10-1.
Game 1: Spring Hill 3, LeMoyne-Owen 1
With the game tied 1-1 in the 4th inning,
John Sklopan led off with a double to left field for Spring Hill.
After a single by
Grayson Williams, Chet Silveri doubled down the left field line to drive in what turned out to be the game-winning run.
Taylor Gibson (3-4) was brilliant in the complete game effort. Gibson allowed just one run while striking out 13 batters.
Game 2: Spring Hill 10, LeMoyne-Owen 1
After failing to score through the first four innings, the Badgers offense exploded for five runs in each of their final two at-bats.
Williams busted up the shut out with a solo home run to left field.
Brennan Fontenot capped off the scoring in the 5th inning with a 2-run shot that scored
Mason Bonnaffons.
The five spot in the home half of the 6th inning was highlighted by a RBI triple from
Joseph Guidry.
Michael Cabeza (3-0) went the distance, allowing just one run and striking out eight.
SHC (21-14, 13-3) will conclude their series with LOC on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 am.
