Badger woes continue with 3-0 loss to UWF

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team was dealt a 3-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) home loss by the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts on Sunday afternoon at Library Field.

The Argos (11-4, 8-3 GSC) did all of their scoring in the first half as Anita Danielsdottir scored in the 3rd minute off a cross into the box by Peyton Peffers from the right side following a pass from the top of the box by Isabella Garcia-Salas. In the 8th minute, Kaila Armstrong found the upper right hand corner of the net after accepting a pass from Peffers, who joined in the scoring herself in the 24th minute with a header goal off a cross from Danielsdottir.

Freshman SHC keeper Hannah Linss (0-9) of River Ridge, La., made 13 saves against 29 shots and 14 corner kicks by UWF. Starter Esthefanny (11-4) and her halftime relief Alex Hayman of the Argos faced just one shot with no corners by the Badgers.

With the win, West Florida clinched the final open spot in the 2019 GSC Championship Tournament while SHC suffered its 12th consecutive loss and 6th straight shutout.

The Badgers (1-14, 0-11 GSC) will host the 5th-ranked Mississippi College Choctaws (12-1, 10-0 GSC) at Library Field on Thursday at 1 p.m. in a conference contest.
