SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) court volleyball team advanced to the Finals of the 2019 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship Tournament with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-15) sweep of the Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams on Tuesday afternoon at the Upward Star Center.
The Golden Rams (19-13) earned a .168 (36-18-107) attack percentage versus a Badger defense that made 9 blocks with 46 digs while allowing 5 service aces.
On the other side of the net, Spring Hill's offense built a .324 (46-10-111) attack percentage with 6 aces against an ASU defense that recorded 2 blocks and 41 digs.
Sophomore middle hitter
Kassandra Fairly of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. had 12 kills while junior outside hitter
Allison Weimer of Covington, La. tallied 11. Junior middle hitter
Bentley Odom out of Murphy High School in Mobile participated in 5 blocks and Weimer was involved in 3 stops. Senior libero
Cassidi Sterrett from Lee's Summit, Mo. scooped in 16 digs and senior setter
Emmarose Neibert of Arnold, Mo. distributed 39 assists.
The Badgers (33-4) next play in the championship match at 3:30 p.m. (eastern) on Wednesday versus either ASU, Kentucky State, or Benedict College at the Upward Star Center.
