SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) court volleyball team swept to its second consecutive Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) title on Wednesday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 27-25) victory over the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobretts.
As a team, the Badgers built a .292 (51-17-120) attack percentage with 10 service aces against a KSU defense that had 3 blocks and 48 digs.
On defense, SHC earned no blocked shots, but collected 61 digs while limiting the Thoughbretts to a .179 (33-13-112) attack percentage with two service aces.
Individually, sophomore middle hitter
Kassandra Fairly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. had 12 kills as did junior outside hitter
Allison Weimer of Covington, La. Senior setter
Emmarose Neibert of Arnold, Mo. handed out 46 assists. Senior opposite side hitter
Sarah Senft of Spring Grove, Pa. served up three aces and senior libero
Cassidi Sterrett of Lee's Summit, Mo. had 19 digs.
The Badgers (34-4) now wait to discover who will be their opponent in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Region Championship Tournament at be held the home court of the tournament's highest seed beginning on Thursday, December 5, 2019.
