SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) court volleyball team opened the 2019 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship Tournament with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-10) sweep of the Savannah State University (SSU) Tigers on Monday afternoon at the Upward Star Center.
The Tigers (8-17) struggled to a .032 (19-17-62) attack percentage against a Badger defense that racked up 7 blocks. The SSU defense tallied one solo block against the Badger attack.
As a team, Spring Hill constructed a .297 (30-11-64) attack percentage with 12 aces.
Individually, senior setter
Emmarose Neibert of Arnold, Mo., handed out 20 assists while senior outside hitter
Payton Gidney smacked down 7 kills. Senior opposite side hitter
Sarah Senft of Spring Grove, Pa. served up four aces.
The West Division No.1-seeded Badgers (31-4) next face the East Division No. 2 seeded Benedict College Tigers (21-10) at 10 a.m. (eastern) on Tuesday at the Upward Star Center
